Letterboxd for TV shows: what ATJV does, and what it doesn't
If you're looking for a Letterboxd for TV shows, I'd rather be honest : I didn't build a Letterboxd, I built something else. But one part of it is very close to what people love about Letterboxd, a place where your taste shows, and where you can compare it with your friends.

What's similar
Your ranking. In ATJV you don't give stars. You do duels : two shows you've seen, you pick the one you prefer, and each pick moves a score. After a while that gives you a podium and a tier list that are really yours, without ever asking yourself if Fargo is a 4 or a 4.5.
Your friends. When you add someone (by their username) you can open their showcase. You see how many shows you have in common, their podium, their tier list, and a "Tonight, for you two" line : a show neither of you has seen and that's in their genres.
Recs between friends. You can send a show to a friend with a little note. It waits for them the next time they open the app.
Your profile. The app works out what it calls your show DNA, the genres you watch and the ones your tier list actually puts on top. Sometimes the two don't match, and that's often the most interesting part.
What's different
- No movies. Only TV shows.
- No written reviews, and no public feed where everybody posts. Your showcase is made for your friends.
- No watch diary with a date for every episode. A show is seen, watching, not seen, or dropped, and that's it.
- No rating out of 5. The rating on the cards is TMDB's, not yours.
If you want to write long reviews and read strangers' ones, ATJV isn't made for that.
Why duels and not stars
Because rating is work, and after a while you tend to give 4 stars to everything. Picking between two shows is a lot easier, it takes a second, and in the end the ranking is fairer than an average of ratings given on different days.
And everything you do while playing feeds the same thing : in the evening the app suggests one single show, picked from what it learned about you.
It's free, it works without an account to play (friends are added by username), and it's on iPhone.
